8th vintage of RC E-amphibians contest

The amphibian models have the long-time tradition in Bohemian. This year there will be held 34th vintage of Protivin cup on Bezdrev lake. This competition was fitted into the schedule of European contest.

The tradition of E-seaplane is already long too. The model club in Lipence near Prague brought to order already 8. vintage contests of E-amphibians on May 17. In previous years pilots demonstrated anything and they judged themselves each other. This year for the first time two referees judged flights under the rules for semi-scales contest.

Place on the Slapy dam is chosen first-rate and weather compared to preceding years wished.

Contest Sponsors were HVP-modell, producer of aircraft models and balsa, TEMA - modell electronics producer and brewery Benesov.

Big model of Zero WWII fighter built by Petr Doubrava. Model has span 1720 mm, weight of 2950 g and is powered by Plettenberger 300/30-A2 with propeller 13x6,5. Akku is 16x2,4Ah cell. Thanks low wingloading (45g/dm2) its flight characteristics are excellent and Peter won the same amough of points like B. Vesely with aerobatic Atlas. Therefore the contest has got two winners.

To oldtimer belongs period costume. Vladimir Mracek celebrates 100th anniversary of 1st powered flight with aeroplane HF1 built by Henri Farman. Span 1200 mm, weight 500 g, wing area 40 dm2. The plane is driven by Formoplast motor with 9x5 propeller. Akku pack is 8x1Ah NiMH.

Near water it is great relaxation. Zlin Z43 with wingspan 1300 mm and weight 1700 g brought Jan Smetana. Outrunner motor AXI 2820/10 with propeller 11x7" is supplied from 8x2000mAh.

Donald is dateless. This model was designed in the begin of 60´s and up to the present day is very favourite amphibian. This is plane of Pavel Janda has span 1350 mm, weight 1300 g and it is powered by VM2028/27 with propeller 8x5 and 8x1700mAh.

The oldest plane participating on this competition. Catalina built 10 years ago by Tomas Fiala – one of the contest organizers and was flown each vintage of this contest. The plane is produced by HVP-modell and this is now driven by 2 x Permax 480 with propeller 6x4. Power supply caters 8x1700 mAh.

Champion ATLAS of Bohumil Veselý. Acrobat has span 1200 mm and length 1300 mm. Drive by MEGA AC22/20/3 with propeller 9x5" and supply is 8x2Ah.

My Piper J3 Cub finished till fifth. Some superiority had after all. This was the heaviest and the biggest model of meeting. Weight is 7 kg and span is 2,3 m. Driving is realized by MEGA RC4130-20 with propeller 16x8" and power supply is from 24x1900mAh.
